The North Beverwyck Road Streetscape Project will begin on or after Wednesday the 26th of June, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM. The first area on North Beverwyck Road to be affected will be Claudine Terrace to Lake Shore Drive. During the first part of Phase 1, the water main will be replaced, which will take approximately 4-5 weeks. This will cause a lane shift for northbound traffic on North Beverwyck Road (vehicles traveling from the Route 46 side into Lake Hiawatha) beginning in the area of Claudine Terrace and ending near Lake Shore Drive. A detour through the area for southbound traffic will beginning at the intersection of North Beverwyck Road and Lake Shore Drive. Traffic will make a right onto Lake Shore Drive, a left onto South Roosevelt Ave, and then end at Vail Road. Officers will be present enforcing the speed limit. A truck detour will be put into place as well for southbound commercial truck traffic, which will direct trucks to left turn onto Lake Shore Drive and then end on Vail Road. These routes were selected to minimize traffic issues at intersections and to accommodate the larger turn radiuses needed for commercial trucks. Detour signage will be posted in the area.
