MOST MUNICIPAL COURT SESSIONS ARE CONDUCTED REMOTELY

Please keep the following in mind:

• The proceeding will be recorded and, on the record, so please identify yourself by stating your first and last name before you speak.  
• When you log into the court session, please be sure you are logging in with your first and last name.  
• You cannot record or photograph the court hearing.  
• Although this is virtual court, you should dress as though you are appearing physically in court.

The Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills Municipal Court is a shared court with the Rockaway Borough Court. All transactions are now handled by Parsippany, 3333 Route 46E, Parsippany

Town of Boonton
The Town of Boonton is a shared court with the Parsippany Municipal Court. All transactions are now handled by Parsippany, 3333 Route 46E, Parsippany.

Responsibilities
Municipal court is considered a court of limited jurisdiction. The court handles:

• All other proceedings in which jurisdiction is granted by statue
• Boating infractions
• Complementary methods of dispute resolution
• Disorderly persons offenses
• Fish and game
• Motor vehicle and traffic violations
• Other non-indictable offenses not within exclusive control of Superior Court
• Penalty enforcement
• Violations of municipal ordinances

Payments

• If you make a payment in person, fines may be paid in cash, money order, check or credit card.
• Payment by mail may be made by money order or check, made payable to the court of jurisdiction.  Payment address is 3339 US Highway 46, Parsippany, NJ 07054.
• Most fines and penalties can be made online at www.njmcdirect.com

Interpreter
If you need the service of an interpreter, please notify the municipal court prior to your court appearance.

Expedited Expungement
If you are charged with a disorderly persons offense, petty disorderly persons offense, or a municipal ordinance violations, and those charges are either dismissed, you are acquitted, or your case is discharged without a conviction or finding of guilt, you may be eligible for an expedited expungement pursuant to N.J.S.A. 2C:52-6. For more information and to determine if you are eligible, you may inquire with the municipal court at the time of disposition.

Mediation
Mediation is a confidential, structured, non-adversarial process that allows a neutral third party to assist disputing parties in reaching a mutually acceptable solution. The mediation process can be a less expense, informal, and more meaningful alternative than the traditional trial process. This is because of the efforts of trained volunteers and resolution being decided by the participants. The court will refer appropriate cases to mediation.
